, reduce water damage as you continue trying to dry things up as much as you can. Lift the drapery up off the floor and wrap them over the rod to keep them dry if the water is approaching. If it is summer and you have central air, turn the unit on to fan and then turn it to high. By keeping the air moving the water will evaporate faster. If wooden dressers and wardrobes are wet, remove the drawers before they swell or you won't be able to access their contents without tearing the fronts off the drawers. Start collecting wet clothing and other washables so they can be dried. If your dry basement is safe, you can place photographs and other things that may be ruined on top of something to keep them safe.
