What will Happen if you Won't get Tested?

For many people they have no idea what will happen to them if they are infected with a sexually transmitted disease (STD)

. Depending on the sexually transmitted disease and how far along it has progressed before being diagnosed, there is a variety medical possibilities that could happen to you. Let's check out what happens with the most frequent STDs.

For STDs like Chlamydia and Gonorrhea, if untreated in women, may cause pelvic inflammatory disease (PID,) a condition that can lead to infertility. If Chlamydia goes untreated in men, it can lead to a condition called epididymitis, which is an infection of the tubes where sperm mature in the testicles. These infections can also significantly increase your risk of acquiring other STDs such as HIV. You heard right, sexually transmitted diseases, despite the fact that they are curable, can leave long term damage if they are not treated in no time.

If you take the much-publicized sexually transmitted disease of HIV, an illness that can lead to a number of other serious health issues, and you do not get medication that will help you fight off any illnesses, than you could easily die much too soon. Because this disease attacks the immune system, your body is in a constant battle to fight off even the common cold.

As stated before, untreated STDs can lead to other serious health problems, like permanent tissue damage. And with a disease like syphilis, a person can lose their sight, as well as their hearing. They are also susceptible to cardiovascular disease, meningitis, dementia and personality changes.

Fortunately, for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea and Syphilis, generally, a single dose of antibiotics is needed. If a person has been infected for over a year, however, a series of treatments may be necessary. Again, however, these will only help you if you get tested. For those of who do not get tested and find out that they have a sexually transmitted disease, ultimately they will have irreversible and permanent damage internally, and in some cases the infected people will succumb to the disease and die.

STDs are no laughing matter. Even if you think that you are immune or have not come into contact with an STD, you could still be at risk. The only way to know for sure and keep safe is to have an STD screening or make an appointment to have STD tests conducted immediately.

STD Consequences- if you think having an STD is bad enough, find out what could happen if you do not get treated for your particular disease.
