What's The Best Way To Temporarily Hide A Bruise?

When you are finally able to wear a nice pair of shorts on a spring day

, or you are all dressed up to enjoy a special night out on the town, the last thing that you want to happen is to discover a new, ugly bruise on your arm or leg.

Just because bruises can cause overly concerned looks and well meaning questions from friends and family, you shouldn't think that you are going to have to go into hiding. Instead, educate yourself about how you can conceal your bruises by using your makeup. You can learn how to hide even the most visible black and blue bruises with a little study about cosmetics.

The first thing you should try to accomplish is to reduce the bruise as much as you can. You can use a washcloth soaked in ice water or an ice pack applied directly to the bruise for not longer than 15 minutes. Exceeding 15 minutes can lead to some discomfort, but a prudent application of cold can help reduce swelling and perhaps even cause the bruise to diminish slightly because it can help dissolve the blood clot which is the origin of the bruise.

Look at the colors of the bruise itself. Matching the bruise to the right make up is essential. Use yellow to bring down blue and beige to calm down red. Look for a concealer that you can rub into the bruise. Though powder will work, cream concealer is a much better choice. This will give you a basic canvas to work with.

Extend the edges of the concealer that you have used beyond the bruise itself. This helps you get a smooth natural look, rather than looking as though you have simply applied a patch.

Give the concealer enough time to dry and consider whether you need another layer. If you have spread the concealer very thin across the bruise, you might need another layer. Use setting powder on the concealer to make sure that it doesn't go anywhere, and also to dull down the shine. When you are applying the powder, look for a number 1 brush to help you get the right effect.

You may be able to skip using concealer if you're trying to conceal a variety of smaller bruises. Make certain that you use cosmetics that are properly matched to your skin tone and contain the right color undertones to match your specific skin type. Using eyeshadow can be an excellent choice for concealing small bruises. Apply green eye shadow to offset red or purple, or yellow eyeshadow to offset very blue bruises, as long as the eyeshadow selected contains color undertones common to your skin.

Eventually all bruises will fade away naturally, but in order to avoid dressing in jeans and a long sleeve shirt, remember these tips on concealing your bruises. A better option to just hiding your bruises would be to reduce and prevent bruising altogether by following an all natural supplement program like Bruises Be Banned.
