When A Loss Adjuster Makes A Cash Settlement, What Is It Usually?

A Loss Adjuster is a person that has been employed by the insurance company to investigate

the validity of the insurance claims made by the policyholders of the insurance company. It is the duty of the loss adjuster to find out whether the insurance claim made by a policyholder is a valid one or not. Moreover, he is also responsible for assessing the damage because of which the policyholder wants to claim his insurance money.

The loss adjuster sometimes presents the claimer the option of a cash settlement wherein instead of the repair services being provided by the insurance company, the claimer is given a cash amount to get the repairs done himself. This option of a cash settlement generally does not suit the claimer and its sole purpose is to cut the losses of the insurance company. The following are the reasons why a cash settlement is not a good option to use for a person claiming his insurance.

You Will Receive Less Money

The amount of money received by an insurance policyholder if he opts for a cash settlement is much lower than the amount that he would have received in repair services provided by the insurance company. The reason for this is that when a person wants to get cash instead of repair services as insurance cover for the damage that his house has suffered at the hands of a flood or fire or any other natural disaster then the company only provides the lowest possible rates required by the claimer to repair his house.

You would not be able to get Your House Repaired by Professionals

Another downside of opting for a cash settlement is that you would lose the opportunity to have your house repaired by professionals hired by the insurance company to repair the damage sustained by your house because of a natural disaster. Since you will receive cash, the professional builders and repair people of the insurance company are not going to repair your house and you would miss out on getting your house restored by their experienced hands.

You will have to do much work yourself

People who agree on a cash settlement instead of getting their homes repaired by the building company hired by their insurance firm end up having to do much of their homes repair work themselves. This happens because the amount of money an insurance policyholder receives from a cash settlement is not that much and is not sufficient to pay for the repair services provided by a good building company. This is why opting for a cash settlement can result in an insured person repairing his own home.

You will not Get Value for Your Insurance

Insurance policyholders that accept a cash settlement offered to them by a loss adjuster or an insurance assessor lose out on cashing in their insurance policies. Since the cash settlement checks are pretty meager they do not give you value for the tons of money you had paid the insurance company as premium.

Thus, having a look at the above-mentioned reasons it is clear that avail insurance repair services is a far better option to use than to opt for a cash settlement offered by a loss adjuster on behalf of your insurance company.
