When I'm At O'hare Airport, Where Do I Get A Taxi?

We've all had that unpleasant experience; the one where you're flying into a new

city and you're lost in a giant airport terminal, with no idea of how to find the taxi services. This might leave you scared, frustrated, or just plain annoyed because your delay in finding transportation means that you're going to be late for checking into your hotel, or for some other type of appointment. The good news is that if you're flying into O'Hare in Chicago, even though you're flying into one of the largest airports in the world, you should have no problem easily finding a taxi to take you to your destination.

Most taxis gather at O'Hare directly out the front of the primary terminal. At each terminal, the taxis should be waiting immediately outside the arrivals area, making them very easy to access. Other ground transportation is also accessed in the same general area, making it easy to get out of the airport whatever method you're using. This makes the taxis easy to find, and the taxi stand is enormous, so you should have no problem locating it. After you've collected your baggage, simply follow the signs, and you should find your way to a waiting car in no time.

The one thing to remember about the taxi stand at O'Hare is that there is a no standing rule in effect. This means that the cabs can't sit their idling and waiting for people to come out, because the authorities at the airport want to ensure a steady flow of traffic out of this busy hub. You need to keep a few things in mind in order to have a smooth experience not just finding your cab, but also getting in it.

Because the cabs are not supposed to stand at the airport, you need to be ready to go when you're entering your cab. This means that you should have all your bags to hand with your curbside. That way, the driver can help you load your bags quickly if need be and you can be on your way.

Another thing to remember is that you're going to need to call ahead and request a cab. There are always a few people who just try to snag a random cab outside airports, but this is unreliable at best at O'Hare. Calling ahead is the best way to make sure that you've got a ride waiting after you land.
