When Is It Time To Rebrand?

When Is It Time To Rebrand?

When Is It Time To Rebrand?

There is always a constant battle of pros and cons when it comes to considering whether or not to rebrand your company. Will the new look grab people's attention? Will it push away our already loyal customers? Do you have to re-explain what business you are in?

Rebranding gives you a new starting point. You can explain what exactly it is that you do to the people who are familiar with your company but still don't have a clue. It also is extremely useful for making sure all of your new customers get the right first impression. Your brand and your logo need to send all the right messages. If that is not the case your brand may not be helping your business at all. If your name and logo don't explain or at least give a good idea of what you do, it may be time for a rebrand.

Do you want to be known for more?

After a certain amount of time a company usually becomes associated with one specific service or product that they do well. This is usually a good place to be unless you are trying to grow your business in to new areas. A rebrand will allow you to let your customers know that you are expanding and offering more. You may want to leave some elements of your brand the same to help keep your customers feeling loyal and attached to your brand. If you decide to go for an entirely new look, make sure everyone knows that you did rebrand, and that you did it on purpose. If your company is growing but no one is paying attention to what you're offering, it may be time to rebrand.

Does your brand blend in?

Many companies start out with a very literal and strait forward branding approach. This is good because it lets the customer know what you do and what you're about. The problem comes when other businesses across the world take the same approach and it makes it nearly impossible to differentiate your brand from the competition. You may have a great brand or logo, but there may be thousands out there that look very similar to yours. If your brand is blending in, it might be time for a rebrand.

These are not the only time when it would be appropriate for a rebrand, but these are two situations that I felt deserved addressing. Your brand is one of the most important assets a company has and if it is not helping you or your company, it might be time for a rebrand.
