In general, young drivers are at higher risk of getting into an accident

. Even a cursory perusal of very recent accounts of motor vehicle accidents reveals that a number of them involved teen drivers. Many accidents involve several teenagers in a car. Many accidents have several victims. Many accidents involve pedestrian victims. In what follows we summarize recent publications of three such accidents. In 3 of the cases a person died.

In this report a motor vehicle accident was described in which the vehicle was driven by a 16 year old who has a junior license which allowed the teenager to drive up to 9:00 in the evening. The incident, though, took place on a weekday at a time later than 9:00 p.m. The driver lost control of his car, hit another car, and then slammed into a 65 year-old male pedestrian who was waiting at a bus stop. The victim died from his injuries a short time after being hit. The driver was arrested. He was charged with speeding, manslaughter, and with criminally negligent homicide.

In this report the driver of the vehicle was a drunk eighteen year old male. The incident happened on a Sunday morning at roughly 2:30. The biggest percentage of drunk driving accidents happen on weekend nights. According to the report the victim in this situation was hit as he was crossing a road. The victim was a 44 year old male. The impact caused the pedestrian to suffer serious head injuries. The driver was arrested. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving under the influence.

As per this report the driver was an 18 year old male. The accident took place in the morning hours on a Sunday. The accident took place in a residential area. The accident occurred when the teenage driver lost control of his car. It turned forcefully and flipped, striking a pedestrian who had just gotten out of his car so as to take a pamphlet from the front yard of one of the homes. The home was for sale and had a sign and the pamphlets in the front yard. After hitting the victim the car kept going until it was ultimately stopped when it struck a tree in front of the house. The 67 year old male victim did not survive the accident.

This motor vehicle accident involved a 19 year-old female driver also driving in a residential area. The driver struck a woman who was in front of her home tending to her flower bed with such force that the woman was hurled nearly 150 feet into a truck parked in her driveway. The teenage driver fled the scene of the accident. Nearly 30 minutes after the accident the police found the young driver and arrested her. They located her not far from the scene of the accident. She claimed she was returning to the scene to admit she had caused the accident.

On a personal level it is sad to read about these accidents. These types of cases are true tragedies. Victims who survive the accident are often left with injuries that result in lifelong disabilities. In incidents involving a fatality the family of the victim suffers the loss of a loved one. Even the life of the teen driver is permanently changed. Yet, whether it is from speeding or from drunk driving these accidents keep happening.
