A look through the graphic design tutorials available online doesn't seem to be shedding much light either. So what do you do? The only thing you can consider doing is enlisting the services of an expert. The expert may not have all the answers, but an exploratory discussion with him can start shedding light on some of the grey areas you had.

There is also the situation where, confident as you are that you can make reasonably good brochures, you simply don't want to take chances with the project. So you contract it to the experts. In other words, this is where the stakes are too high, and you are not willing to take any chances.

Yet another situation where contracting a brochure printing job to the experts would be the rational thing to do would be where a costing analysis has shown such outsourcing to be the most cost-effective way to do it. This would, most probably, be on a large scale brochure printing job, where the specialist printing firms, leveraging on the economies of scale, may be able to do it more cost-effectively.
