As we may know, the two main types of contact lenses are hard lenses and soft lenses. For hard contact lenses, it has the feature of rigid, durable but not as comfortable as soft ones to wear. They require people to remove it and clean it in a proper way every night. For good maintenance, people can wear them for 2 years, but when we find they are contaminated and have mineral build up, it is time to replace them for a new pair.

Compared with hard lenses, soft lenses are more comfortable to wear, but are not as durable as hard ones as they are made of thinner material. Just as hard lenses, we need to remove soft lenses every night and have a good maintenance of them. One point we should pay attention to is as it is made of thinner material which can be torn easily, while cleaning, it is better to handle them gently. And their life span is shorter compared with hard ones, usually one year if maintained well.

If we do not want to clean and maintain contact lenses, we can choose daily contact lenses. With daily contact lenses, we can just throw them away after one day use, no need to clean it at all, which will enable us to enjoy fresh, clean and sterile lenses. But remember, this lens can be only used for one day, if we want to use it for longer time, we also need to clean and maintain it afterwards.

If you think change daily contact lenses everyday is troublesome and money-consuming, we can also try special silicone lenses, which enable us to wear them for as long as a month, without taking them out for a month. And of course, no need to clean and maintain them during the valid period time of using. But remember to change a new pair after a month.

For contact lens wearers, it is critically important for them to replace their contact lenses at the required date, or when needed. If they find their lenses scratched, cloudy or smell funny, it is the very time to replace them for new ones. And if there are bacteria build up, the contaminated lenses will bring big harms to our eyes, and the worst can even lead to blindness.
