The dream vacation to Florida is something of a myth
. The beaches are great and the weather is often nice, but do not be disappointed if it offers you some challenges.
The summer time is a great time to take a vacation but if you are going to Florida in mid summer beware that it may be very uncomfortable.
This mostly means timing your events to avoid the heat. That means that sleeping in only ruins your day. Get up early and enjoy the sunrise over the ocean. And get the hard activities done before the heat gets you. Then kick back in the afternoon for a nap and then enjoy the evening weather.
It's not so much the heat that gets us northern folk in Florida it's the humidity. Even though the temperature averages in the nineties, the humidity is the real issue.
The main problem is overheating, but breathing problems can also occur, just plan so you can avoid the heat and head off these troubles.
You may wish to consider going to Florida in the wintertime. This will give you the great beaches without the heat. The downside here is that Florida does get cold snaps and you cannot plan around them too much. When things get down in the 40s it is wise to have the right clothes on hand.
The upside to the winter is that humidity is low and that helps us avoid any troubles of that nature. And you can play all day without having to stop in the middle of the day to avoid the heat.
Florida is a vacation spot that is wonderful but beware; it is not perfect so go prepared with a plan and the proper stuff and relax on the beach.
