When To Update Your Rv?

When buying an RV, any RV, you dont always do so based on the decor or even the layout

. Keep an open mind while shopping because chances are, much of what you dont like can be changed. It is like buying a home. Look forward to making it your own.

There are things you can do to an RV to update it and make it newer or to just change the color scheme on one you bought for features you didnt want to do without but hate the colors.

Floors: Carpet is a normal decor option in trailers of all kinds. However, carpet is hard to keep clean and will look terrible in no time. If you have any water getting in, carpet is like a wet towel. It holds the moisture until it mildews and stinks. A great replacement option is laminate or tongue and groove wood flooring. Stick on tiles will lift in certain weather and porcelain tiles are very heavy. Unless you arent going anywhere, stay away from anything that will add a lot of weight. Leaving your floors uncarpeted will allow you to conveniently sweep the place clean all the time. You cant do that with carpet.

Walls: While some people change the flooring out of necessity, they will change the walls to match their tastes. Paint is an easy option, or add some wainscotting and your own style of wallpaper. Trim it out with a little crown molding if you want to for that classic look. Use velcro and stick photos or art to the walls to increase that homey feeling. If you have water damage anywhere, be sure to tear it out and replace that ruined wood with new. Use pressure treated decking wood to resist water and last a very long time, likely longer than the amount of time you will own it.

Window Treatments: Whether you take down the curtains and replace them with blinds or just put up your own curtains to match your style, the windows can make the space feel together or disjointed. It is a good idea to have something up to shield you from lookers on and just to lend a bit of privacy. This is one of the most inexpensive things you can do to update your RV. If you do nothing else, fresh and clean curtains in the windows will instill a sense of pride in your vacation home.

Furnishings: There seems to be a belief that what furniture you have in your trailer needs to be bolted down. There are many people who take out all the old furnishings and replace them with all new...and they dont secure them. None of them have had an issue with sliding or falling, but they do love that they can have real furniture to use, especially if it becomes their permanent residence. The main piece of furniture replaced is the dining set. Getting rid of the booth and putting in an actual table and chairs makes the place seem more like home and more functional.

Countertops: There are several things you can do to give the galley a facelift. Countertops are one of the more expensive things you could replace, or use something like contact paper in a marble print to cover what is already there. Stay away from materials like granite, unless you are not moving, as it is so heavy. Appliances and hardware are also possible upgrades, but do your homework before putting in any appliance that might not be compatible with your RV.

Just because you dont find the perfect trailer, doesnt mean you cant make one your own. RV trailers are easily customizable to be anything you want them to be! This is your happy place, make it one you love!
