I know how it feels to want to know when your site will get listed on google

. I have personally had the experience of having my site get listed within 24 hours and I also know what its like to wait 24 months. I sucks, plain and simple but there are things you can do to speed up the process.

One of the main things that will speed up the process of you being listed is getting more backlinks. I can't stress this enough, getting backlinks to your site is a crucial part of getting listed on google and without them you are not going to ever see your site rank well. The more backlinks you have the more relevant google sees your site and they will list you based on that faster then a site that has no backlinks at all.

Another key component is the search term that you are targeting to get listed on google. If the term you are targeting is too competitive that you can do all of the work that you can and still never show up on google. The competition should not exceed 50,000 competing websites when you do a search for your term in google with quotation marks around it. You can also check the page rank of your competitors using a plugin for FireFox call SEO Quake. If the first page of google has a bunch of sites ranked 5 or higher that that term is too competitive and you should pick a different one.

Page rank of your competition cannot be overlooked. Google ranks pages from 0 to 10 and the higher the page rank the more of an authority google sees it. It is not easy to move a site with high page rank off of the first page of google so watch out for pages that have a high rank. If you see too many for your term and you try to compete with them you will be wasting your time.

So these are some of the main things that can either help you or hurt your results in getting listed in google. Make sure the competing sites are low and also make sure that you do not try to compete with sites that have a google page rank of over 4. I or 2 on the first page may not hurt but if page one is full of them then pick a new keyword phrase.
