After attending countless job fairs and spending numerous hours at your college career

counseling department you know in your heart what career path to tread to. During your next consultation with your career counselor you will ask him to map out a plan that will help you get a job in a large company.

The following helped you decide to go after the big fish:

Money. Corporations have more money having bigger revenues. This means they can also pay you better compared to the small guy for the same type of work. They also have packages that include stock options and profit sharing.

Perks and Luxuries. Huge corporations may also offer 401 (K) plans, cell phone and transportation plans. Luxuries may include company discounts like the 40 percent employee discount being enjoyed by Beverly, 30, of Toronto. She works for the Marriott Hotel, and enjoys a 40 percent discount in accommodations in any Marriott Hotel in North America.

Training. Large companies invest in training their employees. If you are interested in continuing your education, the company even funds it, if not the full amount then a good percentage of the tuition. This holds true for Rafael, 28, who works at Canadian Tire. He works at the Shipping and Receiving area at Brampton, and is taking up continuing education courses in logistics. He hopes to climb up the ladder and be in a management position in two years time. Canadian Tire is funding part of his continuing education.

Reputation. Having worked for a large company always looks good on your resume. When you are ready to move on to your next job, having work experience from a big company always looks impressive.

All these have motivated you to pursue the big fish over the small guy. But be warned that getting your foot in the door will not be that easy. There is a long hiring process to follow. However, don't get frustrated when the going gets tough and you cry "Help me get a job!" On the contrary, persevere and do your due diligence.
