When your dog leaves you

It was a normal chit-chat call , that informed me of the fact that Snoopy has left us for good. It was a quiet moment, the state of being numb. Finally what followed was tears rolling down much enough to let the world know of what happened.

But to my chagrin, some people lack the courtesy of remaining silent, let alone not be smiling at such moments. The rush that passes through one's mind in a moments like this is well known and understood by people who themselves have dogs. Possessing a dog is not possessing a dress or a bike, it is a baby that you have nurtured over years and very much your family. So, even if you do not understand the pain of losing a member, the least you can do is be quiet and pretend.

Your friend of years, who waited for you to come back from school, take him for a walk or even feed him has gone forever and this time it is no fetch game he is playing. Desperately hoping against hope, that he might just get up once again before being buried deepwithin mother earth. He was with you when all your friends deserted you or when being scolded by your parents or when fights with siblings went dirty. He would just lay there beside you quietly and assuring you that no matter what happens in the world, he would stay beside you always. Chicken and pedigree made you smile and plain bread anguished you. Anyone daring to hurt me, would end up in the hospital for sure, followed by scoldings from dad for long medical bills to be reimbursed.

And there he was lying and today he is gone. Understand that your life had become painful with regular visits to thevet and you were reduced to a hapless vegetative state, but you still provided us the joy by just being there. Know you have to go like each one of us someday, but to let you know that it was too soon.We would miss you surely but always hope that wherever you are you miss us too. Stay happy and be a good boy buddy.
