Where Did All The Inflatable Boats Go
Many times, when people think of boats, hard shelled boats first come to mind
. Tankers, yachts, cruise ships, and canoes are just a few of the varieties that are very well known. However, there is a type of boat that can fulfill many different duties that are thrown at it. Not only that, but it also sports portability, storability, durability, and a great price as well. This versatile watercraft is none other than the inflatable boat.
It is sometimes considered to be inferior to rigid hulled boats simply due to the fact that they are inflatable. Durability and safety are two of the greatest concerns for people looking into boating. However, inflatable boats boast both features. These boats can be found in every type of body of water imaginable. As materials and designs have improved over the years, these water vessels have been able to brave everything from a placid lake to treacherous white rapids and everything in between. Here are a few examples of where one may find inflatable boats and what they are being used for.
Gentle rivers. For those who enjoy leisurely floating downstream, inflatable boats and rafts provide an excellent ride. There are kayaks available for those who enjoy a more "sporty" approach to their ride. These can be made for one or two people plus their cargo, yet only weigh a few pounds. Some are even reinforced in areas where the kayak may be drug ashore. There are also rafts that can fit a number of people for a relaxing trip down the river.
Lakes. Fishing is a widely known water activity and inflatable boats and rafts provide fishers with an affordable way to get out on a calm lake for a day of rest and relaxation. Engines can be attached to some inflatable boats for those who like to move around the lake at a slightly faster pace.
The Ocean. Believe it or not, but inflatable boat have come a long way since their early ancestors and are now able to brave the waters of the ocean. The materials that these boats are now made with can withstand the force that oceans exert on boats.
Whitewater Rapids. Whitewater rafting has become a popular sport amongst water enthusiasts, and inflatable rafts are the typical vessel of choice for this activity. Inflatable rafts come in numerous shapes and sizes with different features available. It is possible to have a raft for one or a raft for a whole group of people. No matter the case, inflatable rafts are durable enough to handle the waves and light enough to transport from place to place.
