Where Did The Stairlift Originate From?

A stairlift is designed as a mechanical device to help lift people up and down the stairs

. The stairlift dates back to the 1920s when a man name C.C Crispin created the stairlift or The Inclinator as he named it.

The reasoning behind his invention was because of his ill friend who struggled to get up and down the stairs in his home. As a self taught engineer C.C Crispin started to design ideas on the basis of a chair being able to move up and down the stairs to transport people who found it difficult to easily climb up and down them.

Some Historians claim that the stair lift actually originated from earlier than the 1920s as they argue that it dates back to 1536. The reasoning for this is because the King of England, Henry VIII suffered a serious fall meaning he needed assisting with moving around his home.

The stair lift has now become a world wide phenomenon as a stairlift is a liberating investment for people with mobility problems to be able to have more freedom in their own home so they can move around comfortably without having to rely on anyone.

Overall the stair lifts are a genius invention that will always be around for people with difficulties accessing their stairs in their own homes.
