What's the best relationship advice you can get? Obviously it is that which stops your break up from happening or helps you get your ex back. How you get that advice can be tricky at times, especially when you are seeking it from your friends or family. They may have loads of advice for you but where does their experience come from.
You may have a best friend that married right out of high school and has never gone through a break up like you. You may also have friends that go through new relationships every month. Would these be the best sources to get advice from? Even those that have truly experienced a break up my not be able to help because of the emotional pain that they experienced may cloud their judgment.

The first thing you must do is resist any effort to contact your ex. Sounds like the reverse of what you must do but you must do this. Take some time to get over the emotional aspect of this so you can think clearly. When you are thinking clearly again take time to figure out what went wrong with the relationship.
After you have done these two things and some time has gone by, give your ex a call to see if they would like to meet you for coffee or something at a neutral location. Do not talk about your past relationship if you can avoid it. You are going to try to start from scratch like its the first date the two of you have ever had.
