Style Advice runs rampant. All you need to do is pass any magazine rack or take a walk to the nearest mall and you will be bombarded with fashion tips and style advice that is "guaranteed" to make you look fashionable overnight and easily. The question is, "Is this reliable information?" and the answer is, "not always". You need only to do a little research and you will quickly find that there is lots of conflicting information out there. Who are the experts and where do they get their information. Most people believe what they see written about style, not many people actually ask themselves,"Whose style advice should I follow?
The answer is simple. Take a little time to consider the source of your information. For example, a person who claims to be a style expert should look the part. If they aren't stylish and don't have a polished image why would you listen to their style advice? Would you hire an accountant who is over his head in debt? Of course you wouldn't and the same is true for your image. You are probably thinking, "Don't all fashion and style professionals have impeccable style"? The answer, "No they don't". The reason is, they might not be qualified at all.
Another way to determine whether you are getting your style advice from a good source is to look at the expert's background. Have they been professionally trained? Ask for the names of previous clients and do some interviews. Those who have been professionally trained and have experience are most likely to give you the most valuable information.
