Where Is The Best Places To Go With A Gold Metal Detector? Find Out Now
Which is the best metal detector to use ? I've been asked this question hundreds of times
. I always still use the same answer "You Get What You Pay For." The more you pay the better the quality.
Gold metal detectors can be very expensive and second hand detectors can be found on the Internet Auction sites such as Ebay or Amazon or Craigslist, You could also try local newspaper in the classified section or local news-agent notice boards. Even then you will need to pay a fairly good price and second hand detectors hold their price fairly well.
So your new Metal detector has been delivered and you know the whereabouts of captain Blackbeards lost treasure and your just itching to go dig it up. We've all been there but try to hold on just a little bit. Boring bit first read and make sure you understand the instructions otherwise you'll go right over the top of the treasure and would'nt even know it. Also find a local metal detecting club there's thousands of them dotted around the place and all have expereinced members that are usually more than will to pass on any tips and advice.
The best places to start metal detecting are beaches and recently ploughed fields, however make sure you have the owners permission to search his land. To help sweeten the landowner you could say he could have a choice of what ever you find. Other places you could get information from will be the library or local council offices for old maps and plans. Also try to think outside the box. I remember we used to have a local carnival every year in the same place. My mum told me that the carnival had been held there as long as she can remember she is now 83. Travelling fairs also seem to use the same pitch every year. Some markets in the U.K have been held on the same site every week for a couple of hundred years all these are great spots for good quality finds. Dried riverbeds may also give up some rich pickings, even your back garden a good place to start.
Nerver be tempted to go to archilogical sites this is illegal and you will be prosecuted. No matter what you think you'll find never do it. All archilogical sites are places of historical interest and you'll ruin the site. Make sure you declare any gold you find and try as much as possible to identify and intersting finds. To help with this I've found museums a good palce to start and some friends of mine have had offers from museums to buy they're finds.
When you've found something and got it out of the ground make sure you fill the hole in with what came out and leave the are as tidy as possible. Most of its common sense close gates show a little respect that's it.
