Finding the right moving boxes that are durable and of high quality can be difficult for a budget

. Boxes can cost up to ten dollars of more at packing stores. Hardware supply stores are not any better. Never go to the post office because their boxes are the most expensive. How exactly are you supposed to find good moving boxes at an affordable price? The answer is actually a lot easier then you think.

Many stores that specialize in moving sell boxes in various sizes. You can buy a few here to make sure that your most prized possessions at least have protection for during the move. However, buying all of your boxes here can add up. You should ask friends to see if they have any extra boxes of any size laying around the house. Tell them that you will gladly take any off of their hands! If it is around a loved one's birthday or the holiday season, then there should be plenty of empty boxes available. Only pick up the ones that are made of a solid cardboard material. Anything less will break with too much stuff. Cardboard is pretty substantial and it will keep particles or debris from damaging your personal items.

One of the most surprising places to find boxes are next to dumpsters. People who have no need to for their boxes often leave them off to one side near a dumpster for people who need them. If the boxes are in good shape, they often go quickly! If you are not opposed to using boxes that have been discarded next to the trash, then this is another alternative to consider when looking for moving boxes. Some advice- never take a smelly box because it will permeate your clothes or anything in it. This is not a pleasant experience.

If you are moving very far away, then you may want to consider looking for a more solid box such a plastic container. You can find these at a large discount store or you may even have several already. You can use vacuum sealed bags to minimize the space of your bedding and clothes. The more stuff you can fit in plastic boxes the better. Your items will be protected much better when compared to a cardboard box. There will be no leakage or critters in your things! Also, plastic containers also help things from being crushed or trod on. A cardboard box can easily fall apart. However, with a solid plastic box, your things will be protected and crush free upon their arrival.

A plastic box can ten times more expensive then a high quality cardboard box. However, search garage sales for old containers that are practically being given away. You can also try discount stores for smaller plastic boxes. If you really want to get creative, you can buy various sizes of Tupperware to place your smaller items in. You can put jewelry, pictures, ornaments and more in these Tupperware boxes. Then you can place all of them in a cardboard box so that they do not get lost! This is a good way of combining the two types of boxes into your move. A combination of plastic and paper will help you keep your costs down while also protecting your things.

When you arrive to your new home, you will find that your things have arrived just as they left- in perfect condition. What more could you want when after a stressful move. Hopefully, you had kept things organized as you put your possessions away by labeling them or by placing similar items together. Now all that is left is for the fun of the unpacking to begin!
