Where To Find The Most Reliable Voip Providers

VoIP providers are mushrooming everywhere and it's getting difficult to tell which ones are reliable and which ones aren't

. Because of the lack of standardization in the VoIP industry, it's very difficult to compare plans which have disparate schemes. This will settle down slowly as the industry matures, no doubt. But in the meantime, users need a simple guide to let them know how to watch out for warning signs.

There are two ways to determine which VoIP providers are the best for you. Either you go by the brand name, or you go by how readily the provider answers your questions and how they measure up based on certain criteria. We take a look at two ways to go about this and you must choose which one you're more comfortable with.

Brand Name

There are a few large providers out there who are well known. Vonage is one famous example. This is just one way of evaluating a firm, and there's no doubt that a large and famous company can't be all that bad. They didn't get that way by being shoddy. The problem with big firms however is two fold. In the first place, you get no customized service. For a business, it's crucially important that your provider understands your peculiarities and values you as a customer since no two businesses are alike.

The second problem is that large companies are likely to be less innovative in their offerings and it might even turn out to be more expensive. This is because the standard rates for VoIP service haven't stabilized yet and companies are still experimenting with what charges work with their business model.

Features and Response

A few questions put to your provider will let you know what kind of service they provide. For example, ask them whether or not they recommend getting a number from them or if it's better to port your old PSTN number over to them. If they're honest, they'll tell you that porting your old PSTN number gives you more flexibility since you can change VoIP providers at any time. If you get it from them, you'll have to change your number when you move and for most businesses, their telephone number is a part of their branding.

Also ask them if they allow you to add new users for free. Good VoIP providers won't charge you for this since it costs virtually nothing to do so. It also means your business can grow efficiently without scaling up the costs.
