Guitars come in many different shapes, sizes and designs, and various make can be personal to your desires, and your decision can be manipulated by lots of items, such as the genre of music you desire to play. In example, if you want to play heavy metal music, then you really don't want to be sat there playing a Gibson Les Paul, you should consider an instrument which seems to look well, more less mainstream, if you get what I mean.

If you are just beginning your guitar career then realistically buying a Gibson isn't the wisest move, simply because of the price attached to it can be daunting. Even so the Gibson make is unquestionably the top guitar brand avaliable, and as you progress further into your music career and stray away from playing backup on you guitar, and maybe move towards lead guitar, then considering a Gibson is essentially a must, if you have the funds avaliable for it that is.

This makes it a lot more reasonable to the average guitarist so for this reason alone I strongly recommend this guitar, and for the fact that I have played on both a Gibson and an Epiphone, and find that they are nearly identical (virtually) except a few trivial differences makes the Epiphone a very safe brand name, and I would personally endorse it to any player, specifically newer players.

If you have the monies just lying around not doing much, then definitely go for the Gibson, it certainly won't disappoint, if you're not as well funded, or are more money concious then the Epiphone is essentially the guitar for you as it really is a exceptional brand with a fantastic repute.
