Canvas art prints are products where either photography or artwork is printed onto canvas material is then stretched around a wooden frame. Cotton has been the primary material used for creating canvas art prints over the years. Many inkjet printers use jets of inks the move across the canvas material repeatedly creating a high quality canvas art print. One main problem with this material is the absorption of the ink that does occur. Canvas art prints using cotton canvas can sometimes leave the print looking slightly patchy without a perfect reproduction. Canvas manufactures then came up with a solution to this and began to coat the material to prevent it from soaking up the inks and therefore becoming less permeable.
Polyester canvas is what has taken off as being something that is easy to use and with the additional coating, provides a good canvas art print reproduction. It is thinner meaning that the canvas art print can sometimes feel slightly more flimsy and therefore lower the overall quality of the canvas art print and make the product feel a little lighter.
However, it is better to use cotton canvas as this provides more authenticity, which is something that people appreciate when purchasing their canvas art prints.
