Which Defensive Spray Is Best For You?

I get so many phone calls from people asking if I carry pepper sprays

. And of course I do. I carry Mace brand, Wildfire and Pepper shot between the three it is probably close to 30 different models. Everything from half ounce pepper shot to 330 gram bear spray to 1 pound pistol grip wildfire similar to the one "dog the bounty hunter" uses a TV.

Many people think that all pepper sprays are the same. They do all do the same thing. When an assailant gets a shot of pepper spray in the face several things happen. First of all it incapacitates him for anywhere from 5 to 45 minutes. It will cause an intense amount of pain on his eyes, nose, throat and mouth. He might even be swearing at you for several minutes.

The oleoresin capsicum that is in most sprays causes intense tearing to the point of the eyes shutting. Defensive sprays also causes choking, shortness of breath, and a burning sensation to the skin eyes and throat. Some disorientation can occur.

Many people don't realize that there are several basic delivery systems for the pepper spray; foam, spray and gel are the most popular. The new pepper gel holds up better in a wind outdoors and has a greater distance than most other sprays at 18 feet. The new Mace pepper gun uses a "bag in a can" technology which provides the longest range distance of any pepper spray in the world at 25 feet.

But there are four different kinds of defensive sprays for you to choose from.

Triple Action-it uses OC (oleoresin capsicum) which causes choking and the eyes to close; tear gas for tearing and disorientation and UV dye to mark the bad guys for further identification by police

Double Action-uses CS tear gas for profuse tearing, intense pain and shortness of breathe with UV dye.

Pepper gel-uses 1.4 percent capsaicinoid concentration in a gel and UV dye.

Peppergard-uses OC spray which causes intense pain to skin, eyes and throat.

So many choices for you. Which is best for you? Only you can decide.

If you think crime can only happen to the other guy you are wrong. The "other guy" is thinking the same thing and to him you are that "other guy". There is a reason why they call it self defense. You have to protect yourself, your family, your home and business!!

A 10% solution of OC spray is illegal in some jurisdictions. So check the internet or your local sheriff's department first before getting some.
