Choosing a laptop at any time of the year is difficult
, what size screen should I buy? What operating System do I need? What size Hard Drive should I get? How many USB ports do I need? Do I need a DVD writer or a CD writer? Should I buy an Apple or should I go for a PC. These are all the questions that we think about when we buy a laptop. Let's go through some of these questions and help you with your purchasing decision.
Screen Size
The screen size that you choose should mainly be concerned with the usage of the laptop. Are you going to use it for work? Is it a laptop for general use around the home? The two different scenarios have different needs.A work laptop to use on the train, in the car, or on the move in general needs to be a light laptop that can be used on the move. This means a smaller screen is required to keep the laptop light and easy to carry. Then a 14" or 15" would be a good size.If it's a laptop for home, then you'll be thinking of watching films, looking at pictures and general web surfing. This because it's a home laptop and so can afford to have a larger screen size; a 16" or 17" would be great.
Hard Drive Capacity
The hard drive capacity should be ample enough to hold videos, music, pictures and documents. The newer forms of availsble media such as pictures and movies take up more space so again it depends on usage. However a minimum capacity would be suggested to be 250GB.
DVD or CD
Today, most laptops come with a DVD+RW drive and this is the drive that should be sought. The development of current media means that the capacity of writing information to a DVD is much more adequate.
Tip. Always go for the most expensive you can afford.
