Which Stop Snore Device Will Work For You?

Snoring is big business

Snoring is big business. If you Google "stop snoring" you'll get over a million results for your search. There are many companies shouting that their device is absolutely the best device to cure snoring, and there marketing is so good that it's hard not to open your wallet and buy their product. Thing is, you could end up spending literally thousands of dollars on products that end up not working for you. So, how do you find the best stop snore device for you?

The first thing you need to do is understand what is causing you to snore. Snoring isn't a "one size fits all" affliction. There are many different things that can cause a person to snore, and each one will require a different solution to stop the snoring.

Finding out what is causing you to snore isn't necessarily a slam dunk. It's not like you can say, "Oh, here I am, sleeping on my back, mouth wide open and sawing logs like a chain saw," because - you're asleep! But it also isn't an insurmountable task either. You could go to a sleep center, and that might be a solution for you, but why not ask your partner to help you before you drop the serious cash a sleep center costs?

Chances are you are waking your partner with your snoring. Ask your partner to note your position in the bed when she or he is awakened. That's a lot more productive than her lying there wondering if a jury would convict her of smothering you with a pillow so she could get a decent night's sleep. Are you on your back? How is your head tilted on the pillow? Is your mouth open or are you nose snoring? Do you stop snoring when prodded? If so, in which body position do you not snore?

Once you know why you snore, then you are immediately able to narrow your search for a snoring cure. Maybe you need a chin strap to hold your mouth closed. Perhaps you need nasal strips. Something as simple as throat and tongue exercises might help. Maybe you do need to see a medical specialist. At least you will be able to make an informed decision on a stop snore device for your specific situation once you understand why you snore.
