Some inexperienced fishermen may think that have caught a white bass, when instead if they looked closer or were more experienced they would know that what they have caught is a white perch. White Perch look very similar to White Bass, except the White Perch don't get as large, and the white perch have one major stripe that run the length of their body, where white bass, have numerous body length stripes, also white perch have a slight rounded head, where as the white bass has a more pointed head.

White Perch are on the enemy list of many fishermen because they tend to eat a lot of eggs of other fish that are more native to areas where White Perch have been introduced or spread. White Perch put up a good struggle, so they can be enjoyable to catch if you like a battle when reeling in a fish.

Depending upon where you live, water temperature and other conditions, White Perch will spawn anytime from spring to early summer. White Perch can survive just fine in ponds, lakes, reservoirs, rivers and even the ocean as they can live well in salt water or fresh water.

White Perch seem to like staying near deep holes and they stay clear of debris, such as fallen trees, logs, weeds and other such cover. They feed mostly near the bottom so one of the favorite live baits to use is a crayfish, also worms, and live minnows and other small fish often work well to catch them. If using lures, ones that resemble small fish work well, as do artificial crayfish.
