White River Trout Fishing

Planning to visit Arkansas? Are you a trout fishing enthusiast

? Are you looking for great place to find those rainbows and brownies? Then I know the place just for you!

It's Arkansas White River!

This spot's cold water is just right for rainbows and brown trout, and the best areas are in the tailwaters from Bull Shoals Dam in the middle of the towns of Lakeview that are stacked with rainbows that do not seem to discriminate baits. You can place your bets on either 2-inch rainbows or even, two-pound brownies!

You can paddle across the water in search of your prize, but not near the near the dam's turbines of course! It's up to you to have the perseverance to find your best catch among the schools of trout and that makes it even more exciting and fun!

Ready to come in? You'd want the big ones, right? Well, who wouldn't? So, here are just a few tips.

Tracking your Trout

Most experts would recommend looking for them in pockets of water. These can be found in both banks of White River where you can see the tree stumps, up until the end of the trail.

Stocked trout flourish in the currents. However, you can find those brownies undercover in the still and calm waters too! Some gently flowing flats can, by the way, be found near the right side of the river or towards its southern part.

Techniques and Equipment

A two-pound brownie can really pose a challenge. It is good to use a muddler minnow when you choose to fish by the tree stumps, which can give you the added strength that you might just need to strip it back. Once you release your minnow into the area, it is said that the trout will stay there looming larger. Using a black PT on the other hand isn't very advisable. Instead, you could go with the hare's ear.

You will notice grasses hanging over the flats. In these areas, casting rods could prove difficult. You have to be really patient since it could take a couple of tries before you can get through the vegetation. "Always watch out for the best indicator before you make your strike."

The Area - White River

If you feel the need to resupply or to try other equipment in your fishing, then there are numerous resorts along White River. However, the best place to go to is the White River Inn. Located a couple of miles downstream from the dam, it is said to provide everything a fly fisherman needs.

The last but not the least tip lies in no other but you! Remember to have fun and to be up to the challenges you would find in your venture! Understanding the steps you have to go through to get your target is truly essential! Persistence is always the key, along with the eye for spotting the right place to catch your prize!
