The United States is in a particularly difficult situation right now regarding energy resources
. We are extremely dependent upon fossil fuels to drive our lifestyle. With dwindling fossil fuel resources, learning how to build wind generators, along with other renewable energy sources, may be one of our strongest solutions to this problem.
There are 2 reasons that I say we are in a dire straights now regarding our energy resources:
1. First and foremost we are dependent upon the Middle East for supply of our oil. We know for a fact that most of the giant oil wells have been operating for 40 or 50 years. We also have very limited data about how much is left in the ground over there. We do know however that according to our own experience here in the US, that these wells last on the order of 40 to 50 years in the may taper off dramatically. So the decline in resources from the Middle East will likely be very precipitous. In other words, when it's gone it will happen quickly.
2. Secondly, the carbon output from fossil fuel driven power generating plants is ruining the planet's atmosphere. Whether we believe it is an imminent problem or not, we know that our carbon footprint is negatively affecting the air that we breathe and the filtration system that keeps the sun's most harmful rays from hurting us. We all intuitively know the carbon is an issue and most industrialized nations and others with booming economies that burn fossil fuels and have a lot of cars need to aggressively deal with this issue. The only way to do it is to start to limit our appetite for burning fossil fuel in power plants.
If you build wind generators you can make a difference in all this. To make when devices for your house, you are displacing the energy that you typically would be buying from a power plant.
We are constantly surrounded by wind energy that swirls around our houses that were letting go by each and every day. All you have to do is build a small wind turbine and start reaping the benefits almost immediately.
By the way, the most common thing to do when you first start is to charge a set of batteries for backup power for some critical device like a refrigerator. That usually is the cheapest and simplest way to go in the beginning. However you can graduate to doing a lot more like powering entire house or exporting that excess that you make to the local utility that you buy from now.
