Who Won The Ladies European Tour Qualifying School 2012 In La Manga Golf Club?

In January 2012 Jodi Ewart triumphed in the LET Q-School by means of two shots following

rounds of 70-67-67-73-73 that gave the 24-year-old North Yorkshire lady a total of 11 under 350. The Swiss novice Anais Maggetti had a total of nine under and Carlota Ciganda had 5 strokes further back in third.

The Womens European Tour (LET) is a professional golf tour for ladies operated by a Board of Directors and a Players' Council, wherein the majority of its players are European. Meanwhile, the phrase qualifying school is the annual qualifying tournaments for top golf tours like the PGA and LPGA tours.

Jodi Ewart ranked fourth on the LPGA and championed in the LET. Hence the event at La Manga Golf club this January is very good news to her.

Jodi Ewart led from start to finish over the 5 rounds at La Manga Golf, Murcia, and Spain. After resisting the need to look at the scoreboards the whole week, Ewart was stunned to get a victory.

Ewart started off the round slowly and then holed a putt on nine for birdie. The move kicked things off then she shoved one in the water off 16 and had a double.

The 24-year old golfer also added that she was a bit worried throughout the game simply because somehow she already hinted she was winning but was not sure how many shots ahead. But not knowing the shots ahead had proven to do her good due to the fact if she had known it, she most likely had held back.

So what about her competitions? What were their experiences?

To determine who would bag the final spots inside the top 30, six players headed back out for the seventh tee to start a sudden death play-off for two places. These six players were: Laura Cabanillas and Mireia Prat from Spain, Sharmila Nicollet from India, Hannah Burke from England, Miriam Nagl from Germany, and Carly Booth from Scotland.

Laura Cabanillas holed a 12-footer for birdie to bag the 29th card available at the par-four seventh hole. The other five players went to the eighth tee.

Carly Booth fell short after reaching par four, eventually she got eliminated together with Miriam Nagl right after taking a bogey 5. Meanwhile, Hannah Burke, Sharmila Nicolet, and Mireia Prat had 4 and went for the par-five ninth tee.

Nicollet, who was leading after the first round, two-putted to get a birdie four from the right edge of the ninth green. This made her earn the 30th card.

Going back to the top rated 3 of LET Qualifying School 2012, Ewart plans to go home first just before starting her season at the ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open at Royal Melbourne. Second place Maggetti, anticipates for her first professional tournament at the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco come month of March. Third place Ciganda is pleased to be able to play a full schedule following making a number of appearances in professional tournaments for the previous years. Her first play is in the Gold coast RACV Australian ladies Masters. This will be followed by the Australian Open and lastly in New Zealand.
