Who is the Perfect Recruit for your Network Marketing Business?

Many network marketers have a very simple strategy for recruiting new members into their downline. That strategy is basically to just sign up anyone and everyone. If a person that they have reached out to expresses enough interest to "try" the opportunity, then that is all the average network marketer needs to hear. In addition, you must take into consideration that most companies that employ a network marketing business model for direct sales advertise that basically anyone can be successful. As result, people from all walks of life take a stab at having a network marketing career. This is also one of the main reasons that there is over a 95% failure rate for people who get involved in the industry. The ease in which anyone can become involved in the network marketing industry is one of the best parts as well as one of the worst parts of the industry. There are countless stories of people that started with little or no skills and experience that have made a fortune in the network marketing arena. However, statistically speaking, those stories are few and far between. Let's look deeper at what kind of person would be the ideal recruit for your downline.

Before we discuss the ideal candidate, let's discuss a candidate that is not ideal. If you have ever been in the networking marketing industry, you can probably readily identify these people. These people normally have never thought about becoming involved in a business of any kind before they were recruited by you. These people are typically pretty skeptical of anything that is a little "outside of the box". These people typically do not display a lot of ambition or drive in their current activities. These people typically require being begged by you on several occasions before they even take a look at your opportunity, and they may even join your opportunity just to get you to quit bugging them about it!!! Let's be realistic. What are the chances that this type of person will become successful in business? We are not just talking about your business opportunity, but ANY business opportunity. The chance is obvious low.


As a network marketer, knowing your ideal recruit is akin to knowing your target market. Your marketing activities will be geared toward attracting as many people that fall into your target market as possible. Now, do not misunderstand, if a person that does not fall into your target market expresses interest in your business opportunity and wants to become a partner with you, SIGN THAT PERSON UP IMMEDIATELY. However, when you are establishing a recruiting and prospecting strategy, your time will be much better spent in making a strategic effort to attract candidates in your target market.


So who exactly should be in your target market? Well, that answer is not as complicated as you may think. I will explain using an analogy on a topic that is familiar to me. I was a Division I collegiate basketball player as well as a professional basketball player, so I know a little bit about basketball. If the National Basketball Association called me and told me that I could have my own franchise, I would immediately have to go out and recruit players for my team. Of course, I would want my team to be competitive and have the best chance of success. So who would I recruit for my team? Would I just go around to grocery stores and malls and ask anyone that I could find to join my professional basketball team? Of course not, I would most likely recruit current college and professional basketball players. These people have already shown the drive, ambition, and talent to become successful in basketball. Let's apply this to your network marketing business. What kind of person would be ideal for your network marketing "team"? Well, now the answer should be obvious. OTHER NETWORK MARKETERS!! These people have already expressed an interest in network marketing, and they have basic knowledge of what network marketing is. In recruiting this group, you do not have to answer questions such as "Isn't that one of those pyramid schemes?" or "What is marketing?"

Well, now you may be thinking, how can I recruit another network marketer without it just turning into a debate about which of us has the best opportunity? Again, the answer is simpler than you may think. What do network marketers really care about? Is it product lines or company names? Probably not, what most network marketers care about is making MONEY. The specific opportunity is almost irrelevant if you can show your prospect that they can make money faster and easier than she is currently making it.

In closing, find a marketing strategy that is high powered and duplicatable. Preferably one that drives new leads to you virtually automatically. In addition to boosting your bank account, this is GOLD to other network marketers, and it will brand you as a leader and someone with whom other network marketers would want to partner.
