Who needs NLP?
I heard about NLP while I've been studying in the U.S
. and seen the positive changes it could have on your own pattern of behavior.
For people out there who are looking for a way to take control of their own lives through positive change and affirmations, then NLP might just be what you need.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming(NLP) is based on "a model of interpersonal communication chiefly concerned with the relationship between successful patterns of behavior and the subjective experiences (e.g. patterns of thought) underlying them" and "a system of alternative therapy based on this which seeks to educate people in self-awareness and effective communication, and to change their patterns of mental and emotional behavior", which, in the world of social science, makes it a controversial approach to psychotherapy and organizational change.
NLP has been instrumental in "finding ways to help people have better, fuller and richer lives", which was what its founders wanted to happen when they coined the title to denote their belief in a connection between neurological processes ('neuro'), language ('linguistic') and behavioral patterns that have been learned through experience ('programming') and that can be organized to achieve specific goals in life.
NLP has a wide range of usage: 1.) as an effective and rapid form ofpsychological therapy capable of addressing phobias, depression, habit disorder, psychosomatic illnesses, andlearning disorders; 2.) promote the potential for self-determination through overcoming learned limitationsand emphasized well-being and healthy functioning ( "science of excellence") derived from the study of how successful or outstanding people in different fields become successful in the first place, claiming that anyone can learn these skills to improve their effectiveness both personally and professionally.
NLP made a huge effect inmanagement training, life coaching, and theself-help industry. The founders themselves marketed NLP by using the words ""if any human being can do anything, so can you". In their early books, The Structure of Magic I: A Book About Language and Therapy andThe Structure of Magic II: A Book About Communication and Change, the founders expressed their belief that the therapeutic "magic" as performed in therapy by their models (Perls and Satir), and by performers in any complex human activity, had structure that could be learned by others given the appropriate models. They believed that the ability to challenge distortion, generalization and deletion in a client's language was embedded in the behavior of Perls and Satir.
By reinforcing positive anchors, they then produce the desired result of shifting a negative feeling or recollection of that incident to one that is full of positivism and good connotations.
With the proliferation of mass media, it should not be a problem getting a NLP DVD or a NLP book to coach you on the nature of NLP and how you can best benefit from it.
