Not only do self-defense products make sense in a down economy, they are items that you can sell with a clear conscience. They will not kill an innocent bystander. The level of training required for safe and effective use is much lower. Because it's all legal, you are not marketing a product that a criminal will break into a person's house just to steal and use against them and others.

The only real issue involved in marketing pepper spray and other non-lethal defensive products is in making sure you aren't a victim when you set up your business. We all know there are criminals online as much as in the real world.

With any product and business, it is important that you, as a vendor work with a reputable and trustworthy wholesaler. Ideally, it will be someone who is genuinely interested in helping you succeed in selling their product. You'd think that would be the goal of everyone, but many are just looking to get as much money from you as possible, leaving you swinging in the wind when it comes to sales and distribution.
