Wholesale List - A Gold Mine Or A Myth?

Most people spend their lives searching for the elusive wholesale list

. Does a UK wholesale list really exist, or is it the just something that people dream of. I would tend to side with the latter. A complete list of ebay supplier names or eBay sources can be a source of huge competitive advantage; something that people would most likely not share easily. I would even go as far as to say that the myriad lists available for a price on the Internet are also a sham. If somebody had that kind of information, they would be most likely starting some kind of business rather than hawking it online.

There are, on the other hand, some advantages to a wholesale list. It is definitely a starting point - something to get started when you have nothing else in your hand. It can put you in touch with people who in turn may know people of relevance. While this may or may not amount to something of value with repeated efforts, it is definitely better than nothing.

My advice would be to try and build your own wholesale list. A list of names, contacts within the industry that you can call upon for favors, material or even information. The best way to go about doing this is to attend as many trade events, product launches, conferences, as well as other forums that you can get yourself invited to. Not only do you meet a lot of important people, you get to hear views on industry trends and get a sense of what is profitable and what is not. A list can never be an adequate shortcut to this kind of insider information and knowledge. It can only be a lazy mans route and may not always lead to the proverbial pot of gold.
