1. Expanding background. It is difficult to imagine how much you will learn when preparing to debate. Students work with numerous sources and memorize bug volumes of important and useful information which they later use in their life. They become aware of social tendencies and problems, understand political matters, get knowledge in environmental studies, culture and psychology. Beyond a debate club, a student will hardly find time, energy and motivation to study all these matters.

When participating in debates, you learn to see when an argument is strong and when your opponent is just manipulating facts; you practice to see causes and to find conclusions, to develop arguments and present them persuasively.
