Why Are Our Democracy Failing?

Why Are Our Democracy Failing?

Why Are Our Democracy Failing?

The answer is very simple but indeed has been overlooked for centuries and in fact is still not understood by 99% of all educated politician.

There are some cynical tongues who say that these 99% do know but will do anything to stop this from happening. It doesn't matter because either way the end result is what we are missing and yet it is the driving force that makes a democracy into a fair place and not a misnomer for dictatorship by some corporations or individuals.

The primary driving force of democracy are its people and not its government. It works, is as fair and democratic, to the exact degree that everyone participates actively in the governing of the country.

Initially this may seem, impossible to organise but is quite easy. Most work and duties carried out by the various government departments, local or national is done by the people themselves on a regular or rota basis. The best comparable example I can give here is a co-operative style.

While I could say so much more on this point the main point has to stated yet:

The problem why people don't engage more actively is not one of lack of education first and foremost but lack of practice.

In other words you can't teach democracy only learn by participation.

There is of course the basics that you must learn in school to understand what is what but participation changes people's attitude and this can't be achieved by reading books answering tests but only by engaging actively as shoulder-by-shoulder effort.

This is where we fall down. In the old days we had boy scout clubs who would partially help youngster to work in a group towards a common purpose which served as a springboard to participate more in the community and democratic process. However this isn't enough and with most boy scouts groups disappearing it is preparing our youth even less for their role as citizen.

We must establish citizen youth clubs that teach our youth active participation in our community and since most adults don't engage either they may join the rank as they haven't really progressed past the age of youth.

Democracy dies if we don't actively engage, so don't wonder if we got problems of corruptions and discontent, ask yourself what have you actively done to help breath life into this society!

This is the key reason why we don't engage and all democracies are eventually ending up in turmoil and fail. This is why democracies end up as compensation and hand-outs societies.
