The reasons vary from one husband to another, but the following reasons may combine to account for most of the tragedies.

First, some husbands, especially the husbands in many Asia countries, still consider the males as superior to females. They think that they should occupy the completely dominant place in the family and of their wives do not obey them in every aspect of the family life, they prefer to rebuild their position with their fists. This actually shows their lack of confidence in the roles they play in their families. Second, some husbands are suffering from some mental diseases. It can be probably caused by psychological response, social stress, mental illness and so on. Some researches suggests that about 80 percent of both court-referred and self-referred men in these domestic violence studies exhibited diagnosable psychopathology, typically personality disorders. These offenders are irritated and out of control easily. However, some experts insist that social stress is also an important factor. Social stress, due to inadequate finances or other problems in a family may further increase tensions. Violence is not always caused by stress, but maybe one way that some people respond to stress. Whats more, families and couples in poverty may be more likely to experience domestic violence because of increased conflicts about finances and social status.

Although the husbands may not realize it, it is true that family violence may cause serious consequences and in some extreme cases, it may even cause the murder and the separation of the whole family. Some victims, who have been suffering from the family violence may undergo . stress, fear, and anxiety everyday. If one day, they can not bear the family violence any more, they may commit suicide or even murder.

So no natter how strong you are, your fists can only be used to prove that you can protect your family members instead of hurting them.
