Why Bipolar Disorder needs your Immediate Attention

Bipolar disorder is a mental illness which plagues one from childhood itself or occurs at an adult age of life. It can drive a person from highs to lows and vice versa. Bipolar Disorder may be a newly diagnosed disorder but the effects are as harsh on a person as any other disorder discovered till date.

Why it needs immediate attention is probably due to the symptoms and effects it leads to. A person suffering from mania, depression, hypomania cannot really do much on their own but needs external help from their family and friends. Why does the disorder need help? In case of a child, the disorder can interfere with his or her schooling, social environment, performance and growth along the way. It is essential for teachers and parents to try and help the child as he/she is bound to not understand much themselves.

Similarly, as an adult, work, married life, life at home can be completely uprooted given that the person can get irrational when suffering from mania or not want to know their family in depression. Children at home seem to suffer most when such a thing happens as they do not understand the cause and effect and may also think they are to blame for the disorder.

Given the tendencies a person develop, irrational thought, impulsive behaviour, suicidal thoughts need someone's monitoring as there are cases that result in death or accidents. The unfortunate part of this disorder is that there is no certain cure or permanent solution to it and hence, can grow tiring. For the same reason, the person suffering also tries to commit suicide or death or put themselves out of misery.

A good support system and some counselling can work wonders and a balanced routine and medication taken can calm the person.
