Why Bother Refacing Cabinets?

When planning out your cabinet renovations, if youre planning on getting an entirely

new and expensive set, then your budget must be taking a hard blow. However, there is a way to drastically decrease spending, all while providing results so similar, that nobody will notice the difference; this method is referred to as refacing.

It consists of swapping all of the front parts of the cabinet (shelves, hinges, front doors, drawers), without touching the base, for newer, more glamorous parts. This process does not take much time or knowledge to complete, requiring you to simply remove easy-to-remove parts and replace them with other ones, just as easy to install as the previous ones. As a result, you will end up giving your cabinets the exact same look they wouldve had with a real renovation, however this process costs a lot less (from 1,000$-2,000$, depending on the materials you chose) when compared to getting new cabinetry (can range from 5,000$ right up to 50,000$, depending on the size of the kitchen).

There is a rumor which says that because the new parts needed to complete the refacing process are so cheap and easily available, that they must be of poor quality and unreliable. However, nothing can be further than the truth; these materials are legitimate and authentic, ranging from plastic, to metal, to glass etc etc

If you feel like youre thin on ideas, get a hold of a catalog and start browsing through it or perhaps, you could perform a search on the internet, see what kinds of designs people have come up with, see what the big manufacturers have to offer. As a last resort, if you have the dough for it, you can always hire a professional, interior decorator to pick out a design for your new cabinetry set.
