Customer Relationship Management, or CRM, is a strategy for managing how a company interacts with customers. This is an important aspect of business that cannot be quantified or stressed enough. Simply put, if the customer enjoys working with the business, they are more likely to do more business or refer friends to your business.

This has become so important that businesses have started outsourcing their customer service to other companies.

A good example of ways that customer satisfaction increased was the implementaton of autmoated menus. When calling a company for assistance, it's likely that whatever problem you have has already been solved. With the use of an automated menu (as annoying as some of them can be), you can get the problem's solution without having to be put on hold. Also, financial institutions and banks use them heavily for processes such as balance inquiries.

Social networking websites like Facebook and Myspace have gotten the attention of big corporations and small businesses alike. When multiple people come together to voice an issue, it's easier for an establishment to solve it. Companies make their own pages and allow customers to post on them comments, complaints, grievances, and issues they are having. Then, a specialist may look at it and comment or look into solving the problem. Or, companies will pass on satisfied customer reviews to the department that deserves the compliment. Complimented businesses that see their customer satisfaction work better than those that do not.

In conclusion, the most important part of business is customer interaction, so CRM's are critical to the survival of business today.
