In some people, depression and loneliness can even coexist at the same time, and the results can be especially distressing. For many, being in a state of depression makes the person retreat into isolation, and this can cause loneliness to occur. Lonely people also tend to spend a lot of time dwelling on emotional and mental issues on their own, and the feeling of detachment from society may cause him to spiral into a severe cycle of depression.
In trying to find a solution to depression, loneliness issues will have to be addressed. The last thing you should do when you are lonely is to shy away from all social contact, although the stress involved in trying to fit in may well make the option unfeasible. While most people would advise you to divert your attention from yourself by seeking out people you are comfortable with, the combined effects of delusion and loneliness may cause such a sense of isolation that you simply cannot relate with anyone socially for an extended period of time.
There are instances wherein the depression and loneliness can become too much for one person to bear on his own. Unfortunately, society can be pretty harsh and judgmental, and there may be a stigma associated with seeking professional help for such concerns. That being said, there is certainly nothing wrong with trying out all means necessary to help you get rid of loneliness, depression, and other emotional issues, so don't be ashamed to get the help that you need when you need it. Remember that long term depression and loneliness can cause a wide array of different mental, emotional, and even physical issues, so you owe it to yourself to deal with these issues as soon as possible.
It can be tremendously difficult to get out of the loneliness-depression cycle, particularly if such emotions have been a part of your life for a long time. However, working your way out of loneliness and depression isn't an impossible task. Many people have successfully managed to beat it, and go on to live happy and fulfilling lives, and you can too.
