It's funny the amount of issues I've come across with printers that can easily be fixed

. Many users do not take the time to observe what is going on to try and fix the problem themselves. Sometimes these issues can be very simple and fixed within moments. I'm sure at some stage you have had problems with your printer and it always seems to happen when you are trying to print out an important document that you need to have now. Having worked in the IT support for many years I have come across many simple problems that could be fixed easily but I've also come across many frustrated users that the weekly fix them themselves but because they are so annoyed they cannot concentrate on fixing the issue.

Most of the time these issues are caused by paper jamming in the mechanism of the printer. I know this can be very frustrating but it can also easily be fixed. I always advise people who are attempting to remove paper from a printer to ensure that they switch it off first. Some parts in a printer can become very hot and can cause burns. You need to switch this off and wait about 10 or 15 minutes for it to cool down before attempting to remove any paper jam. Sometimes these issues can be caused by the paper itself I remember coming across one company where this was a major issue because they stored their paper in a cold location it was a little damp and cause major issues when they were trying to print. It always seem to happen when people are printing out important documentation or invoices and by simply observing where this paper was being stored resolve the issue quickly by ensuring that it was put in a warm area.

It's also important if you do lots of printing to ensure that you maintain the printer at times. Replacing parts can be easily done with a maintenance kit for your printer. Over time some parts become worn from usage so it's important that you take the time to replace this by purchasing the replacement parts. These can be very inexpensive and can also save lots of frustrating times going forward.

You'll also find nowadays that most printers come with self testing features. This allows them to run a self diagnostics to let you know very as things like network connectivity, toner level or any other technical issues that it maybe have. If somebody has replaced toner they need to ensure that it is sitting correctly in the printer. This seems to be another major issue that some people have when they replaced toner they do not install it correctly as required by the manufacturer.

Some issues can also be related to software applications. You need to ensure that you have the correct software drivers installed on the operating system you are using. Check for updated versions of the manufacturer website. Sometimes with new printers they will issue a printer driver and then have an updated version on their website if they have encountered any problems. Most printer manufacturers also have very good support for their users, will have lots of question and answer sessions to help you resolve any technical or simple issues you have with your printer.
