Why Do So Many Fail At Mlm?

When I first saw the network marketing opportunity for the first time I was blown away

. I can honestly say that I "saw it" and was hooked from day one, which, as it may end up, could be the worst thing ever for me in terms of making money from the mlm business.

So for a while now I have been researching why people fail and how the high 93%+ failure rate in MLM can be changed, possibly even reversed. I have made quite a few realizations and also have come up with a few of my own ideas to see if we can't change this stuff.

First, there is a severe lack of training. I always tell people that the business doesn't matter quite as much as your ability to market your program. While this is partially true it's not the whole truth when it comes to success or failure within the MLM industry.

I've stated over and over again that programs do not matter as much as your ability to market them and I still stand on that "shaky" ground, but this is not to say that programs don't matter at all, that would be absurd! Programs, when compared with one another, matter quite a bit. I mean let's be honest, if I'm the greatest marketer in the world and my program is teetering on the edge of disaster it may not matter how many people I drive to the company capture page.


So right now we are looking at 1/2 of the problem with the high attrition rate of MLM. The third thing that we should focus on is the hype associated with MLM and many online programs to be perfectly honest. I can't stand hype mainly because I am always focused on the long-term results of a particular program or company and hype is a sort term solution to a long term problem. Plus, it's pretty dang close to lying in most cases.

Those that can hype up everything will probably do well in terms of being able to close sales, but the problem lies with the fact that most people don't like to sell stuff to other people and that is a recipe for failure.

The next thing you have to look at is that person in the mirror. Yep, I know, you've had so many guru types out there telling you that ALL of the problem has to do with the junk business model you are involved with and those sleazy marketers that are selling it right down your throat, truth be damned. The truth, however, is a little bit different.

I've spoken with many folks that state they are looking for something simple. I hear the words "easy" and "automatic" way too much. Many, it would seem, want a program that can produce a whole bunch of income, but not require too much work. Umm, I don't know where that one exists.


You first need to realize that you are now a business owner and as a business owner you won't see any money until after quite a bit of production. Since you are a super small business owner, especially at first, you are going to have to wear a lot of hats. You are now the number one sales person, the number one marketer of your program, the CEO, COO and CFO all rolled into one. Warehouse manager? Yep, you guessed it, it's you.

Now, the good news is this. For those folks out there that really will commit to putting forth the effort to learn about their business, learn how to market their business and generate leads, learn how to develop a relationship with those leads then you will probably succeed. You need to find a good solid company that has been in business for a while and has a good marketing plan or system in place.

Another thing that you will want to keep a lookout for is a mentor. There is nothing like getting the help you need from someone that actually knows what you are going through. Once you get all of these pieces of the puzzle in place, then you should be set to go out there, buy your freedom and start finding some real success with network marketing.
