Why Do So Many Foreign Football Fans Support Manchester United

Manchester United has long been the most popular team in the world

, with fans ranging from the estates adjacent to Old Trafford, to the depths of China and Africa. But what exactly makes so many foreigners support the club?

Vidic, 28, says there was never any doubt about his future at Manchester United despite Jose Mourinho's best efforts to coax him to Real Madrid. What is possibly the worst part of the whole debacle; Capello did not even have the courtesy to consult Beckham before making his decision public. One of the countries most internationally capped players woke up to newspapers announcing the end of his career, a fate not deserved by someone who has given so much to the sport.

These viewers become accustomed to expecting victory from the club, they enjoy it, and become 'fans'. They know that the next time they tune in to watch the team play, they can expect victory, if not at least a good game.

Since scraping through the qualifying stages of the world cup by the skin of his teeth, the England manager took the squad through their least successful World Cup campaign ever.

Current England captain Steven Gerrard has also fought to not leave Beckham behind in the halls of fame "I'm sure that if he hears that news, it'll drive him on and he'll try to prove people wrong and try to get back in the set-up because I know he loves playing for England." Gerrard said.
