Along with exercise a healthy diet is important so your dogs can get all the nutrition they need to live a healthy life. A healthy diet isn't something your dog can control as well as the amount of exercise they get; as a pet owner it is your responsibility.
Not only will the exercise help keep your dog fit and healthy but it will also burn a lot of their energy. When you burn your dog's energy you are lowering their need to burn energy on their own. By taking your dogs for walks and/or runs you are keeping them from digging, destroying toys, and any other destructive behavior. A lot of dogs' destructive behavior is a result of having too much energy and they do not know how to properly burn the energy.
