Why I Want To Learn Medical Transcription

I started my first job as a dishwasher at the age of 14. I married at the age of 18 and was an Air Force wife for 14 years. Due to a divorce, I dropped out of college to work and support my three children. Although I wanted to, I never returned to complete my college education. I raised all three of my children by myself. I have worked in the clerical / administrative field for most of my life, mostly for non-profit agencies that provide assistance to needy families. I also enlisted in the U.S. Army and served my country for four years. In the Army, I worked as a Medical Supply Specialist for Munson Army Hospital at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, and was responsible for all phases of processing in medical supplies and equipment for the various medical departments of the hospital like medical record jobs.

I have always looked for ways to make a positive difference in other peoples lives. I feel that the personal gratification I receive from my work is every bit as important as the income I earn on the job. Working in the medical field provided such gratification for me. The medical field is awesome and I learned that it is much more than the doctors, nurses and specialists who provide the direct care. There are also the people who keep the medical facility clean, the personnel who order necessary supplies and equipment, the lab technicians who conduct the testing and all the clerical personnel who do the admissions and clerical support to each department. In the past five three years, I have taken care of both of my elderly parents, until they both required full time care and went into a nursing home. My mother passed away from diabetes complications three years ago. My father had Alzheimers, and passed away in February. I also have a 37-year-old son with schizophrenia and a 39-year-old daughter with asthma.

I have worked to learn all I could about these diseases that have affected me and my family. My heritage is Native American and diabetes is presently rampant among my people. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with diabetes, and must go to numerous doctors appointments to address the care and control of this disease. It has not been easy to take time off from work to address the entire medical emergencies and situations that have occurred within my family in the past few years. I would like to work in a position that has more flexibility to address the medical needs for my son and myself. Medical transcription jobs at home would allow me the flexibility to plan for appointments and treatments, independent of an employers schedule. My interest in working in the medical profession has never diminished, since I served in the military. SN:0TG9Y2ESY

I found your website and would like very much to take your course and become a medical transcriptionist. I live in South Dakota and the winters can be quite harsh. With my diabetes, my sugar levels can sometimes affect my ability to drive, so working out of my home and staying out of the cold would definitely add some quality to my life. The opportunity to work at home is something I have contemplated and searched for in the last two years. Your scholarship program would help me to realize this dream. I plan to complete this course, begin my MT career and in the next five years I plan to start a business and help others to also work at home in this exciting career! I so much appreciate this opportunity, and look forward to hearing from you.
