Remote Access may be defined as the ability to access any computer or network which is located at a remote distance. Some of the other technologies that offer the facility of remote access are Wi-Fi, cable modem and Digital Subscriber Line (DSL).

This not only allows the employees to access all the information in their office computer but also allows them to gain access to different computers all over the world whenever the need arises. When connected with the office computer, it is also possible to access the internal resources. These softwares are inexpensive and can be easily installed on any computer device. While you are connected remotely to another system, it is possible to run applications and transfer files between two systems.
One of the major concerns in using this technology is to make sure that all the connections are secure. A remote access server, which is usually referred to as a communication server has a firewall associated with it to provide security. It also incorporates a router that can forward the request for remote access to other part of the corporate network.
