Why Is It So Important For Affiliates To Check Out Sales Pages?
A big mistake fresh affiliates often commit, is failing to check out the sales page for the product that they are promoting
. This can be a costly mistake and may deprive affiliates of making more commissions. A prudent affiliate will always check out the sales page for the product that they are promoting to see if everything is in order and correct.
If you fail to check out the sales page you may be leaving untold amounts of commission money behind. Here are some of the main reasons why affiliates should always examine sales pages.
1. Quite often people selling products have a squeeze page on their sales page. This means that you will be losing valuable commissions. To explain this properly, it is best to use an example.
Imagine that you send ten people to a sales page with a squeeze page or opt-in box. One person buys the product and you earn your commission. The others meanwhile fill out the opt-in box and receive promotions and bargains through email. Let's say that three people decide to buy the product after reading one of these emails. That is three sales that you will get no commission from after doing all the hard work and sending the traffic there in the first place. Can you see how you are being taken advantage of?
2. Never use a sales page that has an affiliate link. For the same reasons as above you will be deprived of your commissions. You will lose a percentage of your commissions for sending people to that particular sales page as the others may become affiliates.
3. Sales pages can often be so poorly written that they put off customers. If that is the case, a large portion of your commission may be needlessly lost. There is nothing worse than being told to buy something that you don't know a thing about. Long passages of telling you how great this product is and how life changing it will be if you purchase won't cut it, if you don't know what it actually does.
If these types of sales pages don't work on you they are hardly going to work for your customer either. Ask yourself would I like to buy this product after reading this sales copy? If the answer is yes, then you are on to a winner if the answer is no then you may have to make your own sales page or choose another product.
These are just some of the valuable lessons to be learned from checking out a sales page. There may be also malicious practices such as 'cookie stuffing' going on that you may not be aware of. This is just a brief guide to some of the main problems associated with product's sales pages.
