Why It Is Important To Have An Osha Compliant Workplace
It is very important now days to have an OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) compliant workplace
. In late 1970 President Nixon approved the Occupational Safety and Health Act, creating OSHA, because of the rise in deaths and injuries in workplace. Since it has been established the number of deaths and injuries has significantly decreased, which is the main reason of having an OSHA compliant workplace being important. But there are many reasons why it is a good idea to have an OSHA compliant workplace and should be displayed that you are compliant with federal labor laws.
Other reasons on why it is important include productivity. You have to admit if all is running well and the surrounding environment is clean and safe then more work gets done without the fear of injury or death in the air. Places that should have the federal labor law posters around showing that they are OSHA compliant include, factories, automotive repair facilities, restaurants, and operations of construction just to name a few.
When these rules and regulations are put in place in a workplace, it is important to provide safety training and educations and to keep records of all work-related injuries and illness up to date. So make sure you understand the rules and regulations of OSHA that apply to your business. For instance if a factory uses heavy equipment and devices for productivity it is important to make sure they are working properly and have the safety guards and emergency information conveniently available in case of accidents. This not only protects the company but its employees in the same aspect. If for some reason these are not done it will become very costly for the company due to fines and medical bills in case of injury or death, or in the event that unsafe workplace gets the facility shut down until in compliance.
Financially it is crucial to have this all in place because it is much more costly for a business not to be in compliance with OSHA than it would be to be in compliance. Look at it this way, if you have to pay $20,000 in medical expense to an injured worker or even more in the case of death. Or you could have spent $5,000 to repair or become in compliance with OSHA it's a no brainer on which is more cost efficient, needless to say bearing the weight on your shoulders of injury or death in the workplace that could have been prevented.
If you would like to have a business continue to grow with a safe clean productive environment preventing in more cases injury, death, or other facility cost, then remember to make your business compliant with OSHA it will be one of the best business decision you make in your life. Just remember there are endless reasons why those labor law posters displayed in your workplace that show you are OSHA compliant is important, but to create a clean safe and productive environment for any business will set ease to you and your employees minds at the end of the day.
