It may be unfair but it nevertheless remains the case that a man sleeping around gets accreditation for his efforts, whilst women sleeping are slandered as sluts. People look at it and described it differently.

This is because of the social attitudes towards the opposite sexes meaning that one is portrayed more favourably than the other. Women are judged on how they conduct themselves. In terms of how they dress and how they live their life. If women wear short dresses or miniskirts, they are looked upon unfavourably by the media. And if you are media portray something in a negative light it is more than likely the general public will view you in that same way.

Men gain respect from their friends for the amount of women they can bed. The male bravado dictates that the more women you sleep with, the better the guy you become. If you can tell a story and join in the conquest chat then you fit in better socially. There are a few things in dating and love that are not looked upon well by men. Cheating, sleeping with a friends ex or current girlfriend are all actions that will cause rifts in social circles.

Women who sleep around are not attractive to men. Men like their women to be unique and different, and to not have slept with as many if not more people than they have. Slutty women may be okay for one night stands but there is no way a self respecting guy would date a slut for a sustained period of time. This will obviously play on women's minds when it comes to dating and they will therefore dress more classy and act more accordingly.

Men and women that both sleep with a number of people often find sanctuary with each other however. They do this because they can relate to each other and oddly enough these sorts of couples often stay loyal and faithful to each other.

The media builds up certain attitudes towards men and women. Women who sleep around are frowned upon and men can be referred to as hunks and sex symbols. The contrast between the two sexes is stark and the attitudes are most definitely reflected in everyday life.

So if you are a woman it is still not OK to sleep around. But if you are a guy then knock yourself out because you can basically do what you want.
